How Settlements Work
Splittly uses a debt simplification algorithm. This means we calculate the easiest way for everyone to get paid back.
Example:
Alice owes Bob $10.
Bob owes Charlie $10.
Instead of two payments, Splittly might tell Alice to pay Charlie $10 directly.
Recording a Payment
When you pay someone back (via cash, Venmo, PayPal, etc.), you need to record it in Splittly so your balance updates.
- Go to your group.
- Click "Settle Up".
- Select who is paying whom.
- Enter the amount paid.
- Click "Save".
Note: Splittly does not process actual money transfers. You use your preferred payment app, then record it here.
Partial Payments
You don't have to pay the full amount at once. You can record a partial payment, and Splittly will update the remaining balance automatically.
